Section 01
Agreement and plain-language summary
These Terms of Service govern access to punecars.in and your use of PuneCars for self-drive vehicle enquiries, quotes, bookings, payments, verification, pickup, delivery and returns. By using the website or confirming a booking, you agree to these Terms, the applicable booking details and the rental policies published on the site.
PuneCars provides a platform and operating service for arranging eligible self-drive rentals. A booking is not confirmed merely because a car appears on the website or a quote is generated; confirmation depends on availability, successful payment or hold requirements, driver verification and the confirmation shown by PuneCars.
Before you pay
Read the vehicle details, trip dates, pickup method, included kilometres, deposit, cancellation rules and any quote conditions. If something looks wrong, pause and contact support before completing payment.
Section 02
Driver eligibility and KYC
The booking driver must meet the minimum age, licence and identity requirements in the current rental policies. The driver must provide accurate information and complete the verification steps requested by PuneCars or its verification provider.
The person who books is responsible for ensuring that every person who drives the vehicle is authorised and verified. A secondary driver may drive only after PuneCars has approved that driver. PuneCars may decline or cancel a handover if identity, licence, payment or safety checks cannot be completed.
- Provide an original valid Indian driving licence and accepted identity document when requested.
- Keep account, contact and driver information accurate and up to date.
- Do not share OTPs, login access, payment links or verification instructions with another person.
- Tell us promptly if you suspect account misuse, identity theft or an unauthorised booking.
Section 03
Quotes, availability and booking
A quote reflects the vehicle, rental duration, location, handover mode and options selected at that point. Rates and availability can change until a booking is confirmed. The booking confirmation and final payment summary are the records to rely on for the confirmed trip.
You are responsible for checking names, dates, times, pickup or delivery details, vehicle selection, add-ons and contact information before payment. If the website or a support message contains an obvious error, PuneCars may correct it and will explain the available options before handover.
- Choose a vehicle and enter accurate rental details.
- Review the quote, deposit, included kilometres, handover method and policies.
- Complete any required payment and KYC steps.
- Wait for the booking confirmation before treating the vehicle as reserved.
Section 04
Prices, payment and deposit
The amount due is shown in Indian rupees and may include base rental, selected add-ons, delivery or collection charges, taxes where applicable, and a refundable security deposit. The deposit is separate from rental charges and may be used for eligible post-rental amounts described in these Terms or the booking summary.
Payments are processed through the payment method presented at checkout. A transaction may remain pending, fail, be reversed or require additional verification. PuneCars is not responsible for delays caused by a bank, payment network or provider, but we will help reconcile a confirmed transaction when you share the relevant booking or payment reference.
Where a deduction from the deposit is required, PuneCars will provide the reason and relevant amount as part of the booking or support record. You remain responsible for charges that exceed the deposit.
Section 05
Pickup, delivery and inspection
The confirmed booking states the pickup or delivery method, location and time window. Self-pickup may take place up to 10 hours after scheduled pickup, but never after the booked return time; a late pickup shortens the usable rental period and does not move or extend the return time. Doorstep delivery and collection operate within the published service hours and coverage limits.
For doorstep delivery, the executive waits up to one hour after scheduled pickup. If the customer does not arrive, the executive returns to the hub and the customer may self-pick up there until the earlier of 10 hours after scheduled pickup or the booked return time. If the car is not picked up by that cutoff, the booking is treated as a no-show; once doorstep delivery has been made, the delivery fee is not returned. A handover inspection, including photographs or video, records the vehicle condition, fuel level, kilometres and visible accessories. You must review the condition, raise any discrepancy before driving and keep the handover record until the trip is closed. Return inspection is compared with the handover record.
- Be reachable and present with the required documents at handover.
- Allow reasonable time for identity checks and the inspection record.
- Do not take the vehicle until the required handover steps are complete.
- Return the vehicle to the agreed place, method and time unless PuneCars approves a change in writing.
Section 06
Permitted and prohibited use
The vehicle is for lawful private travel by verified drivers. You must operate it carefully, follow traffic laws and manufacturer instructions, and use it only within the permissions of your licence and the confirmed booking.
- No racing, speed testing, drifting, off-road driving, rallies, towing, pushing, commercial passenger work or sub-renting.
- No driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that affects safe driving.
- No transport of illegal goods, hazardous materials or items that could damage or contaminate the vehicle.
- No smoking or intentional damage, tampering, modification, branding removal or disabling of tracking or safety equipment.
- No use by an unverified driver, and no transfer of the vehicle to another person without written approval.
- No travel outside any geographic, border, permit or route restriction communicated for the vehicle or booking.
Section 07
Accidents, damage, fines and emergencies
If the vehicle is involved in an accident, breakdown, theft, warning event or safety incident, stop when safe, protect people first and contact emergency services where needed. Then contact PuneCars as soon as possible and follow the support instructions. Do not admit liability, arrange unauthorised repairs or abandon the vehicle without coordination except where necessary for immediate safety.
The renter is responsible for loss or costs caused by a breach of these Terms, negligent or prohibited use, an unverified driver, delayed reporting, missing accessories, avoidable recovery, traffic fines, tolls, parking charges, impound charges, cleaning or fuel differences. Ordinary wear and a pre-existing condition recorded at handover are not treated as new damage.
PuneCars may need to share incident information with insurers, authorities, owners, recovery providers or professional advisers to investigate and resolve the matter.
Section 08
Fuel, kilometres and returns
Return the vehicle at the photographed handover fuel level and within the included kilometre allowance shown in the booking. Excess kilometres, fuel difference, late return and approved extensions are charged according to the rate shown or communicated for the booking.
The vehicle must be returned reasonably clean and with its keys, documents, accessories and equipment. Excessive dirt, stains, odours, missing items or evidence of smoking may result in cleaning, replacement or detailing charges. Do not assume that an extension is approved until PuneCars confirms it.
Section 09
Changes, cancellation and refunds
Active cancellation requests are available only before the 2-hour pickup cutoff; at exactly 2 hours or less, a customer cannot raise a cancellation request. For an active cancellation before the cutoff, charges are calculated on the base rental: within 24 hours of booking, the charge is 10%; after 24 hours, it is 40% of the base rental or ₹4,000, whichever is lower; between 2 and 24 hours before pickup, it is 60%. If more than one rule applies, the highest charge applies. At exactly 24 hours, the earlier or lower tier applies. A no-show is charged at 100% of the base rental, add-ons and any applicable delivery fee; only the refundable security deposit is returned.
One booking-date change is allowed before 24 hours of the current pickup time, subject to availability. The booking is repriced using the new pickup time and the fixed change charge is 20% of the base rental or ₹1,000, whichever is lower. The customer may pay this charge upfront or have it deducted from the security deposit. PuneCars may cancel or refuse handover where a vehicle is unavailable, unsafe, the driver cannot be verified, payment is not received, information is inaccurate, or a legal, operational or emergency situation prevents the trip. Where reasonable, we will offer a reschedule, alternative or refund for amounts PuneCars has not already earned, subject to the booking terms and applicable law.
Section 10
Service limits and responsibility
We aim to keep the website, booking information and support available and accurate, but online services can be interrupted and vehicles can become unavailable because of maintenance, weather, traffic, safety events, provider outages or circumstances outside reasonable control.
To the extent permitted by law, PuneCars is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, missed plans, lost opportunity or personal property left in a vehicle. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
You are responsible for your travel plans, compliance with traffic laws, the accuracy of information you provide and the safe use of the vehicle during your booking.
Section 11
Accounts, content and suspension
Keep your account credentials and OTPs confidential. You may use the website for personal, lawful rental activity. Do not scrape, reverse engineer, interfere with security, impersonate another person, upload harmful code or use the service to mislead, harass or defraud.
PuneCars may pause or close access, cancel a booking or hold a handover when needed to protect customers, vehicles, payment systems or the service; to investigate abuse; or to comply with law. This does not remove amounts already due or obligations that should logically continue after the account closes.
Section 12
Privacy, changes and legal framework
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. By using the service, you acknowledge that information is processed as described there and that operational communications may be sent when needed for a booking or account.
We may update these Terms as the service, law or rental model changes. The version displayed when you make a booking governs that booking unless a later change is required by law or expressly agreed. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective.
These Terms are intended to be interpreted under the laws applicable in India. Any dispute will be handled by the appropriate courts or forums with jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer or other rights that cannot be waived.
Need help?
Contact PuneCars before the trip if a term, price, handover step or vehicle restriction is unclear. A clear question early is easier to solve than a surprise at return.
